Saint Joseph

Patron of the Monastery

This altar is dedicated to Saint Joseph, the patron saint of New France. This carpenter saint is the protector of our Monastery. Several statues of Saint Joseph adorn our walls, hallways and doors. He watches over our community. He has also been appointed as the protector of the Quebec Ursulines’ calling to education. Saint Joseph’s wing sheltered our boarders and the Grand Parloir itself. The school still stands there today. The Ursulines demonstrate their appreciation by celebrating Saint Joseph’s day each year on March 19th, just as the people of Quebec did some time ago.
