Beam
Architecture Speaks
Take a look at this beam! It harkens back to French architecture, but was adapted for the extreme winters in New France. The architects had to build thick stone walls to protect us from the harsh winter elements. Snow accumulations that at times could be several meters thick required a steep, dual-sloped roof.
The French carpenter used an enormous amount of wood, but the roof is very solid. After all, it is still here after all these years.
