Canadian Martyrs

The Saint Canadian Martyrs

Some sisters call this space “The Chapel of the Saint Canadian Martyrs” because of the two statues honoring Jean de Brébeuf and Isaac Jogues. They were Jesuits who came here to pray before setting out on their mission. They were executed by the Iroquois during their journey. The country was marked by instability and a constant threat of war. The people of New France knew their lives were always at risk.
